Guest Speaker for September Meeting
The Greater Irving Republican Club will have their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Spring Creek Barbeque, 3515 W. Airport Freeway, Irving Texas 75061. If you plan to have dinner, please come at 6:00PM. The meeting will start at 7:00PM.
Our guest speaker will be Kenneth A. Mayfield, Dallas County Commissioner. Prior to serving as county commissioner, Ken was a practicing attorney in the Dallas area, having served as Assistant District Attorney as well as Chief of the Juvenile Division of the District Attorney’s Office.
Ken champions issues dealing with economic development, transportation and health and safety. He is the chair of many local transportation coalitions and Chair of TEX21, a statewide transportation coalition. He started the first Youthful Drinking and Driving Program in Dallas County for first-time offenders. In his twelfth year as Chair of the Dallas County DWI Task Force, he continues to promote and support special projects and legislation that educate youth about the zero tolerance
laws and the dangers of drinking alcohol and driving
under its influence.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his law degree from St. Mary’s
University Law school in San Antonio Texas. Ken and his wife, Diane, and their two daughters make their home in
Cedar Hill.
